Event Factoid: Severus argued that by ordaining priests in a diocese that was not his own, Epiphanius was not violating the sacred canons, which only outlaws such behavior in the cases of bishops forcing themselves on other dioceses, citing the examples of Eusebius of Samosata during the controversy of Arius, Theodoret, Basil, and Gregory the Theologian.
